Becoming a Beekeeper
If you are interested in taking up the fascinating hobby of beekeeping you will no doubt have lots of questions and here we aim to provide some of the answers to help you find out exactly what might be involved.
Keeping bees healthy and productive requires knowledge and skill. Beekeeping is made much easier by belonging to SKBA where you will be given advice, tuition and support.
We meet @ 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of most months in Athy Church of Ireland Centre, Janeville, Athy, Co Kildare (EirCode R14HX26). SEE THE MAP
Lectures, presentations, demonstrations and workshops are given at these meetings by our own beekeepers and by guest speakers.
Books from the library are available to all members on a monthly basis.
SKBA is a Conservation Area (CA) for the native Irish honey bee, Apis mellifera mellifera and we support The Native Irish Honey Bee Society (NIHBS).
